my sweetheart the climate drunk: self portrait as Mother Nature

Description
The initial sketch for this painting was made during the artist’s last winter in London after she wrote the lyric ‘I broke Mother Nature … then she broke me’. The artist was homesick and the work initially explored the feelings of a mother who gives everything to her child and is left a bit broken after the experience. The painting is also a climate allegory where Mother Nature is breaking while lovingly supporting the exhilaration of human life on earth. The landscapes of Byron Bay and Port Douglas were painted as reminiscences and convey the artists chronic longing for home. This painting was submitted to the 2023 Archibald Prize.
